It is with great sadness that we inform you our dear friend and colleague, Dr. Richard Hertel, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024, in the presence of his family after a long illness. He was an Institute and Society member for many years and a long-time MPI instructor.  

The family requests that instead of flowers, those who wish can send contributions in his memory to the American Psychoanalytic Association.

Our sincere condolences go out to Dr. Hertel’s family and friends.

    I am very sad because of our loss of Dr Hertel. He was a great colleague and friend. He also was an excellent consultant. His colleagues, patients ,and myself will deeply miss him.
