Humberto Nagera, M.D.
Humberto Nagera, M.D. died peacefully on Monday, November 7, 2016, at the Melech Hospice House in Temple Terrace, Florida. Since the beginning of the year, he had been hospitalized several times with congestive heart failure.
Dr. Nagera was a Training and Supervising Analyst at MPI and was Professor of Psychiatry at U of M and head of the Child Psychoanalytic Study Program (CASP) there. He started Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Training at our Institute. He trained at Hampstead and the London PI. He was also Chief of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (the Youth Service) at U of M. When he went to Florida, he started the Carter-Jenkins Clinic and Training Program. He authored many books and articles and was close to Anna Freud.
His surviving children, Lisette Nagera and Humberto Phillip Nagera, request that in lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to express condolences make a donation to a charity of their choice in Dr. Nagera’s name. No formal services will be held. Sympathy cards should be addressed to The Carter-Jenkins Center.
