Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute & Society

University Collaborations

Many members of the Institute faculty have regular appointments at the local universities, and many others contribute supervisory and teaching time as volunteers.

The centerpiece of our university collaboration is the annual Visiting Professor program.  Each year, the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute brings a nationally or internationally distinguished professor of psychoanalysis to Michigan. The Visiting Professor spends a whole week providing intensive teaching and supervision to staff and students at community clinics, hospitals, universities, agencies, and professional groups.

The Visiting Professor teaches and consults at Starfish Family Services, the University of Detroit-Mercy Psychology, Henry Ford Wyandotte and Detroit Hospitals, Wayne State University, the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Eastern University, the Medical College of Ohio, the Michigan Psychoanalytic Council, and the general therapeutic community via the Michigan Psychoanalytic Society.

If you are interested in having a guest speaker for your institution, consultation about curriculum matters, or assistance in organizing a class on a psychoanalytic-related topic, please contact the Institute office for assistance with arranging this.
