When Graduating High School is Fraught with Separation Issues
Case Presentation by Adam Lorincz, Doctoral Student, University of Detroit Mercy
In our training clinics, interns often work with adolescents and young adults, who are on the cusp of achieving greater individuation from parents and greater independence to determine their own life course. Many times, these patients are struggling with painful emotional conflicts around these very experiences of separation and individuation. Please join us for a case presentation from one of your peers who is working to reconcile a late adolescent’s inner turmoil surrounding separation and closeness. Issues of race, culture, and the therapeutic relationship will be discussed.
