The Psychoanalytic Treatment of Couples
Glenn Good, Ph.D.
Lecturer, Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute
This course will begin with an overview of the psychoanalytic principles, both theoretical and technical, which can be applied to the treatment of couples. The class will then cover the diagnosis of relationship problems; basic concepts in differentiating relationship pathology from individual pathology; and basic issues in determining the treatment of choice between individual or conjoint approaches to treatment. Using clinical material, the class will demonstrate how to conduct a diagnostic evaluation and how to structure a couple's treatment.
