Mental health professionals need periodic refreshing and updates regarding malpractice and licensure compliance. An attorney specializing in healthcare law and, here, specifically mental healthcare, will describe strategies for psychoanalysts, psychologists, physicians and social workers to avoid mental health malpractice, i.e. boundary violations, He will also explain how to increase skills related to mental health licensure compliance over the lifecycle, i.e. how to complete early career applications or to adjust appropriately to impending retirement. These strategies and skills will be presented with time for participants to ask more specific questions of the presenter and to be responded to.
Learning Objective #1:Participants will be able to describe ways in which they will be able to avoid malpractice, i.e. boundary violations, in their psychoanalytic clinical practices.
Learning Objective #2: Participants will be able to discuss ways in which they will be able to comply with professional licensure requirements as they practice psychoanalytically throughout the lifecycle.
