Visiting Professor

Each year, the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute organizes a visit from a nationally and internationally distinguished professor of psychoanalysis. The Visiting Professor spends one week in Michigan providing intensive teaching and supervision to staff and students of community clinics, hospitals, universities, agencies, and professional groups. The aim of the Visiting Professor program is to provide a community service by outreach to these agencies and groups, all of whom are actively involved themselves in providing community service, particularly to underserved populations. Bringing effective psychoanalytic principles to as many mental health professionals as possible maximizes their effectiveness in the community.

The Visiting Professor teaches and consults in the following community agencies and sites: Starfish Family Services, University of Detroit/Mercy Psychology, Henry Ford Wyandotte and Detroit Hospitals, Wayne State University Psychiatry and Psychology, University of Michigan Psychiatry, Michigan State University Psychiatry and Psychology, Medical College of Ohio, the Michigan Psychoanalytic Council, and the general therapeutic community via the Michigan Psychoanalytic Society.
