For the past eight years, this program has continued to enjoy a steady growth in its outreach to the public and private educational community. The mission of this program is to provide support and information to professionals who have relationships with students of all ages, from preschool through the university level. Psychoanalysts in this program teach how fundamental developmental principles may be applied to the every day work of teachers, administrators, and parents.

Past programs have included such topics as the following: the effect of abuse on learning, the effects of various family and life disruptions on child and adolescent development and learning (e.g., divorce, parent illness and death), the psychological meaning of cultural and ethnic differences for teenagers, the manifestations and effects of depression and anxiety on children and adolescents as experienced by educators, A.D.H.D. and learning disabilities, stress management for teachers, limit setting for unacceptable behaviors, case consultation for teachers, counselors, and administrators.

Programs have been held in Ann Arbor, Farmington Hills, South Redford, Livonia, Oak Park, and Detroit school districts. Also, consultation has been taking place with a number of Preschool Directors in the Northwest Suburban Detroit Area as well as in the Washtenaw County with a charter school, the Central Academy.

For information about how to schedule a program at your institution, please contact Dr. Michael Singer at (734) 995-3654.
