Center for Early Childhood Development

The Center for Early Childhood Development of the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute was established to help those children ages 0–6 who are unable to utilize conventional nursery school programs for their growth and development. Ample research has shown that early psychological intervention with children who are developmentally delayed by emotional trauma, whether through illness, adoption, divorce, depression, or other emotional conflicts, can be profoundly improved and returned to mainstream classrooms if facilities are available and staff trained to work with these children. That is the goal of the Center for Early Childhood Development.

The Center will offer psychoanalytically based programs in three distinct areas: classes for children, external education and research. Classrooms will be located in areas with large populations to ensure the program serves those in greatest need. Tuition will be on a sliding scale; no family will be turned away on financial grounds.

At the present time, the Center continues to offer seminars in child development for parents. We plan to offer parent/toddler classes as a further service to families.
