Treatment Clinic Update

By Dwarakanath G. Rao, M.D.
Chair, Treatment Clinic Committee
Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute

The Treatment Clinic of the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute has offices in Farmington Hills and in Ann Arbor, where we offer evaluation, triage, moderate-fee psychotherapy, and low-fee psychoanalysis for adults, adolescents, and children. We also offer couples and family evaluations, referrals and treatment. This year, we have been successful in providing thousands of hours of psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, thanks to the efforts of our staff clinicians, and MPI faculty and candidates.

We have recently made some changes in our psychotherapy staff. Our current staff clinicians include: Lorrie Chopra, M.S., Deana DiMaggio, M.S., and Suzanne Wiggins, M.S., all of whom work in Farmington Hills and Ann Arbor; Brenda Folstrom, Ph.D., who works in Farmington Hills; and our newest staff clinician, David Votruba, M.S.W., who will work in Ann Arbor. Jane Alexandra Kessler is our Senior Staff Clinician who oversees activities in both locations.

We offer low-fee psychoanalysis on a sliding-scale basis, and reduced-fee psychotherapy. Treatment is provided by highly trained social workers, psychologists, and psychiatrists, and supervised by the faculty of the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute.

We ask that you keep the Treatment Clinic in mind if you have referrals for low-fee psychoanalysis and reduced-fee psychotherapy. Also, we welcome referrals of patients on medications who can benefit from psychoanalysis and psychotherapy. We have simplified the intake process to cut down on wait time and ensure timely assessment and disposition.

If you would like to make a referral, or consult with us about a specific patient, please contact Jane Alexandra Kessler, our Senior Staff Clinician. You can reach her at 248-851-7739 in Farmington Hills, and at 734-761-2727 in Ann Arbor. For more information about the MPI Treatment Clinic, please see our treatment clinic page. If you would like to contact me directly, I can be reached at 734-994-0860 or by email.
