GLBT Network at Motor City Pride

Email

The GLBT Network, a liaison committee of the Michigan Psychoanalytic Foundation, rented a booth at the Annual Motor City Pride Fest in Ferndale on Sunday June 6. It was, as always, a fun and celebratory event, and we were proud to be a part of it. The Pride Fest takes place during the month of June in communities all across the country, to commemorate the June 1969 beginnings of the gay and lesbian rights movement.

Motor City Pride Fest is sponsored each year by the Triangle Foundation, Michigan's leading advocacy organization for the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and allied communities. The activities of the Triangle Foundation are of interest to the mental health community, and because of the overlap between their mission and ours, Triangle is one of the partners in the Foundation's GLBT Network. Triangle offers direct services to those who have been victimized by crime, harrassment or discrimination, and offers indirect service to the whole community through its educational programming and promotion of mutually respectful relationships between the glbt and the straight communities.
